Biography

The Boston and Worcester Railroad was chartered June 23, 1831 and began contstruction in August 1832. The full line was completed to Worcester on July 4, 1835. The Boston and Worcester introduced season passes to West Newton creating the concept of commuter rail. The Boston and Worcester Railroad and the Western Railroad were merged with other smaller companies to form the Boston and Albany Railroad between 1867 and 1870.
